What Is A Company-Sponsored Flu Clinic?
The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone over 6 months of age as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses.

Who Is Eligible to Receive The Shot?
Vaccines are provided to onsite individuals aged 18 and over.

THP members must bring their ID member ID card to the clinic in order to have the claim processed. Non-THP members may also receive the shot, but based upon which third-party vendor you choose, must decide how to pay (see below). Anyone receiving a shot has to fill out a consent form onsite before receiving the shot. The consent form will be provided by the vendor at the clinic.

When Are The Flu Clinics Scheduled?
Tufts Health Plan (THP) works with three different third-party vendors: CVS/Caremark, The Wellness Company and Maxim. The dates that the clinics are scheduled/offered differ between vendors. To set up a flu clinic, Tufts requests a minimum of 3 weeks lead time to guarantee preferred dates and times, beginning August 14, 2014.

How Much Does It Cost?
For THP members, this is a covered benefit (charged to the plan for members); members MUST bring their ID Card to the clinic. Non-THP members may receive the shot, but cost differs per which vendor the client uses to set up the flu clinic.

  • CVS/Caremark – 50 shot minimum, non-members pay $31.99 per shot, vouchers can be arranged for non-members.
  • The Wellness Company: 25 shot minimum; non-members pay $25 directly OR client gets billed for shot. (if less than 25 participants, client will be billed for 25 doses, no matter how many fewer than 25 individuals attend.)
  • Maxim: 25 shot minimum; non-members pay $23 directly OR client gets billed for shot.

Other Pertinent Info for Employers
When the clinic is set up, please specify whether the non-member will personally pay at the clinic, or if THP should bill the account for the charges.
